Ramón F. Bachs

Ramón F. Bachs, born in Santa Coloma de Gramanet, Barcelona, Spain, in 1973, is a comic book artist notable for his contributions to numerous Star Wars comic book series.

Although a lifelong Star Wars enthusiast, he doesn't consider himself a collector, despite owning a substantial collection of Kenner action figures in the past.

He spent five years studying at Escuela de Cómic Joso, located in Barcelona, Spain. His initial professional endeavor, Mantícore, featuring scripts by Josep Busquets, was published in 1996. Mantícore garnered critical acclaim and led to two sequels. Subsequently, he undertook various projects for the Spanish market. In 1999, Bachs was awarded the prize for best new author (tied with Sergio Córdoba) at the Salón del Cómic de Barcelona, Spain's most prominent Comic Convention.

Since then, he has provided illustrations for a number of 'Star Wars' mini-series, notably Jango Fett: Open Seasons, Jedi vs. Sith, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan: Last Stand on Ord Mantell, Starfighter: Crossbones, and Star Wars: Infinity's End, alongside some titles unrelated to Star Wars for DC Comics and Wildstorm.

Bachs' work was overseen by Dark Horse due to continuity concerns, with a particular interest in the designs of the lightsaber. Bachs expressed frustration, however, at the lack of adequate reference material, receiving only well-known publications and a limited selection of images from ILM. For instance, when working with the character Quinlan Vos, he was not given the image of Vos from Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, despite Vos's cameo appearance in the background. Similarly, Bachs illustrated Starfighter: Crossbones, featuring numerous characters from the Star Wars: Starfighter video game, but without access to the game itself.

He regards Jedi vs. Sith as his finest Star Wars contribution and has expressed a desire to collaborate with Jedi vs. Sith writer Darko Macan again.
