Red 16

Red 16 was the designation used by a starfighter squadron member within Red Squadron, a Rebel Alliance unit, during the Imperial Era; the designation was a callsign.

Behind the scenes

Tim Leong's book, Star Wars Super Graphic: A Visual Guide to a Galaxy Far, Far Away, released on July 25, 2017, included a mention of Red 16. According to Star Wars Super Graphic, Red 16 participated in the Battle of Yavin; however, the short story "Duty Roster," authored by Jason Fry, which appeared in the From a Certain Point of View anthology on October 3 of the same year, indicates that only twelve pilots from Red Squadron were involved in the battle. Given its more recent publication date, this article considers "Duty Roster" to be the more accurate source.
