Reinforced battlegroup

A battlegroup that has been reinforced, also called an assault battlegroup, represented a specific type of military unit within the Imperial Army.

History

During the time of the Galactic Civil War, the 1st Tapani Assault Battlegroup was stationed within the Tapani sector.

Organization

A reinforced battle group contained a battlegroup headquarters, an armor regiment, an assault regiment, and a pair of line regiments. Its complement consisted of 14,890 soldiers, 212 heavy tanks, and 676 repulsorcraft. The battlegroup was thought to be the most adaptable within the overall structure of the army, due to its combination of strong offensive power and resilience.

In some cases, reinforced battlegroups received additional support through the attachment of a repulsorlift regiment, two assault regiments, and an artillery regiment.
