Repulsorpods, which are also referred to as hoverpods, viewing platforms, or simply pods, served as platforms for members of both the Galactic and Imperial Senates while they engaged in discussions within the Senate Building chamber. Following the establishment of the New Republic, the employment of repulsorpods in the Senate was seen as exhibiting an "excessively hierarchical" nature, leading to their restriction to ceremonial uses. These platforms incorporated repulsors, allowing them to float toward the auditorium's center when addressing the Senate, or to elevate above ground level when speaking to a gathering. During the Clone Wars, when the Infiltrator demolition droids blow up the central power distribution grid on Coruscant, resulting in a required blackout to halt the vote on the bill intended to deregulate banking conglomerates, the repulsorpods and the chamber transitioned to emergency power.
During his duel against Yoda, Darth Sidious used the Force to hurl several of these platforms at the Jedi Grand Master.
In the time of the Imperial Era, the repulsorpods were modified to include the Imperial crest.
