Rivoche Ranges

The Rivoche Ranges constituted a mountain range situated on the Outer Rim planet of Eriadu. At an unspecified time, Wilhuff Tarkin, the Imperial Grand Moff and a native of the planet, became aware of the existence of these ranges.

In the year 3 BBY, Leia Organa, the Alderaanian Princess, was studying the geography of Eriadu as preparation for an upcoming pathfinding field trip to the world. While present at an Apprentice Legislature gathering on Coruscant, a planet located in the Core Worlds, Organa encountered Tarkin. She then inquired about the mountain ranges of his home planet, intending to gain his favor by allowing him to speak at length on a subject he knew well. Tarkin informed the princess about the Rivoche Ranges, noting that she had clearly conducted thorough research.

Behind the scenes

The Rivoche Ranges are referenced within Leia, Princess of Alderaan, a young adult novel published in 2017, authored by Claudia Gray. The name of the Rivoche Ranges bears a partial resemblance to Rivoche Tarkin, a character who made their debut in the Star Wars Legends continuity through "Eyewitness to Apocalypse," a short piece penned by Michael Allen Horne for the West End Games' Dark Empire Sourcebook released in 1993.
