Rufork Tamson, also known as "Sharp Tooth," was a daring Karkarodon racer who transitioned into a life of crime as a member of the Gullet Gang. To inform commercial ship captains about the gang's presence in the Terrabe sector, the Galactic Empire broadcasted a warning across the region, which featured a picture of Tamson in their announcement. By 1 BBY, the gang had disbanded, leading Tamson to pursue a career in Mon Cal opera, which was cut short by a fin injury sustained during a performance of "The Neka-Chisler."
Cycyed Ock, a former associate of the Gullet Gang, contemplated reforming the group to execute a heist on a treasure vault located on the planet Iskalon. However, Tamson was deemed unsuitable due to the injury, prompting Ock to recruit a new team instead. During the planning phase, Ock incorporated the Imperial alert showcasing Tamson into the Smuggler's Guide, a book. The Karkarodon possessed blue and white skin along with black eyes. In the Imperial alert image, Tamson was depicted wearing white and blue armor adorned with the symbol of the Confederacy of Independent Systems on the front. Tamson shared a last name with Riff Tamson, another Karkarodon who was affiliated with the Confederacy.
The character of Rufork Tamson was initially introduced in the 2018 canon reference book titled Star Wars: Smuggler's Guide, penned by Daniel Wallace, which included an illustration of the character created by Studio Hive.
