Karkarodon

The Karkarodon, a species of humanoid beings native to the aquatic world of Karkaris, possessed traits resembling both sharks and amphibians, making them adept in both aquatic and terrestrial environments. They were renowned for their rapid swimming capabilities and predatory instincts, often tearing apart their enemies or prey with their formidable teeth. Riff Tamson, a Karkarodon, served as a commander within the Confederacy of Independent Systems and briefly held dominion over Mon Cala until Lee-Char led a successful uprising, resulting in Tamson's demise. Furthermore, a Karkarodon was incarcerated in the Republic Judiciary Central Detention Center circa 20 BBY.

Biology and appearance

Karkarodons had webbed hands

The Karkarodons were an aquatic race distinguished by their sharp teeth and the presence of webbing between their hands and feet. Their swiftness in the water, combined with their powerful jaws, allowed them to effectively dismantle their targets. A unique trait of Karkarodons was their ability to quickly regenerate lost teeth. They swam with their legs positioned in a way that mimicked the vertical tailfin of a shark. These beings displayed remarkable resilience; Riff Tamson, for instance, withstood multiple blaster shots to the chest without apparent harm. Saltwater environments were their preferred habitat, and they thrived when submerged. Their origins trace back to Karkaris, an ocean-dominated planet situated near the Mon Calamari system.

History

The Karkarodon Riff Tamson led the Separatist invasion of Mon Cala

The Karkarodons, at some point in their history, engineered a cybernetically augmented biological weapon referred to as the Hydroid Medusa on their homeworld, Karkaris. During the Clone Wars, Count Dooku dispatched the Karkarodon commander Riff Tamson to aid in the Confederacy of Independent Systems' occupation of Mon Cala. Following the capture of the planet and its prince, Lee-Char, Tamson proclaimed himself the ruler of Mon Cala, stationing Karkarodon enforcers within the capital. However, his reign was short-lived due to a rebellion led by the Quarren senator Nossor Ri. Shortly thereafter, Lee-Char succeeded in killing Tamson. One Karkarodon was among the various inmates held at the Republic Judiciary Central Detention Center. On one occasion, he confronted Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, who was disguised as the bounty hunter Rako Hardeen. Obi-Wan responded by stabbing the Karkarodon's hand with a fork, issuing a threat to consume him. Subsequently, he released the Karkarodon, who promptly retreated to his table.

Behind the scenes

The Karkarodon's physical design draws inspiration from real-world sharks. Furthermore, their name originates from the genus Carcharodon, which includes the great white shark.
