Saga Edition

The Star Wars Roleplaying Game Saga Edition Core Rulebook Star Wars Saga Edition represents the last roleplaying game system that Wizards of the Coast put out, launching in 2007 and remaining in production until 2010. The Star Wars Roleplaying Game Saga Edition Core Rulebook introduced an entirely new game system, differing from its predecessor, the Revised Core Rulebook. The name "Saga Edition" was chosen because it was the first game designed to encompass the entirety of the Star Wars film saga, from Episode I The Phantom Menace through to Episode VI Return of the Jedi. The Star Wars roleplaying line from Wizards of the Coast spanned the years 2000 to 2010. Subsequently, the license was passed to Fantasy Flight Games in 2011, leading to the development of a new roleplaying system titled Star Wars: Edge of the Empire.

Like all Star Wars roleplaying games produced by Wizards of the Coast, Saga Edition's rules are built upon the d20 System, sharing similarities with the third and fourth editions of Dungeons and Dragons.

Wizards of the Coast published a total of 14 books specifically for Saga Edition. During the same period, they also released Dawn of Defiance, a campaign consisting of ten downloadable adventures. These adventures were structured as a single overarching narrative, taking characters from level 1 all the way to the maximum level of 20. Numerous web supplements were also made available, including Jedi Counseling articles, with articles #100-115 specifically focusing on Saga Edition, and a Saga Edition Conversion Guide, which provided instructions on how to adapt characters from the previous Revised Core Rulebook for use in Saga Edition.

The Core Rulebook achieved recognition at the ENnie awards, earning Gold awards in both the "Best Game" and "Best Rules" categories. It also received a Silver award for "Product of the Year" in 2008. The Clone Wars Campaign Guide was awarded a Silver in the "Best Supplement" category in 2009.
