Sail-bird
A bird species known as the sail-bird was believed to possess a significant level of intelligence, and was considered to be a bird that was naturally clever. During a discussion on the planet Akiva in 4 ABY, New Republic pilot Norra Wexley and her sister-in-sister-law, Shirene, talked about the difficulties of raising Wexley's son, Temmin Wexley. Shirene likened Temmin's sharp-wittedness to that of a sail-bird, and his smarts to that of a whip-snake, during this conversation.
Behind the scenes
The 2015 novel Aftermath, the initial book in Star Wars: The Aftermath Trilogy by Chuck Wendig, included a reference to a sail-bird.
