Sarkhai Crisp

Sarkhai Crisps were a chip variant, specifically a yellow and vegetarian one, crafted from sliced and fried root vegetable. They were adorned with a sprinkling of brown garnish and small strips of dried algae used as seasoning. The Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs invented this item during his galactic culinary exploration between 34 ABY and 35 ABY. While visiting Sarkhai, the Mid Rim homeworld of the Sarkhai species, Tuggs sourced the root vegetables, carefully selecting those with the ideal texture. He incorporated the algae to impart a distinct Sarkhai touch, envisioning that it would give the crisps the appearance of being decorated with the war paint worn by the Sarkhai to ward off predators.

Subsequently, Tuggs featured the recipe for this creation in his third cookbook, entitled The Ultimate Cookbook, which saw publication in 35 ABY. Within its pages, he lauded the chips as exquisitely crispy and sufficiently delectable that their "war paint" would deter absolutely no one.

Behind the scenes

Sarkhai Crisps originated as a recipe developed for the 2023 Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook, a culinary guide authored by Jenn Fujikawa and Marc Sumerak. The out-of-universe instructions for preparing these chips involve the use of peeled russet potatoes, vegetable oil, kosher salt, ichi-mi tōgarashi, and nori.
