Secciah

Secciah was a Hapan princess, specifically the second oldest among Queen Mother Ni'Korish's numerous daughters. This made her the younger sister of Ta'a Chume and the aunt to the princes Kalen and Isolder.

Following Ta'a Chume and her sons, Secciah and her offspring were the next successors to the throne. This represented the female-line succession, a system favored within Hapes' matriarchal society. Consequently, she was suspected of orchestrating the murders of Prince Kalen and Lady Elliar, Isolder's betrothed. However, evidence later surfaced suggesting that Ta'a Chume herself had ordered both assassinations.

Behind the scenes

  • In The Courtship of Princess Leia, it is mentioned that Ta'a Chume had several younger sisters, with Secciah being the next in line for the throne as the next eldest. However, all the actions attributed to her as an individual, rather than to Isolder's "aunts" in general, take place around 2 ABY , six years before the events of the novel. In one scene Isolder reflects that if Ta'a Chume's descendants were to be eliminated, "the royal line would fall to his aunt Secciah's daughter". The fact that he does not consider Secciah herself to be the heiress may mean that she was dead by 8 ABY .

  • In The New Jedi Order: Dark Journey, a princess named Chelik is mentioned as Ta'a Chume's niece and a "legitimate heir" to the throne. She also has a daughter and a younger sister . The novel leaves it ambiguous whether these individuals are descendants of Secciah or of another sibling of Ta'a Chume.

  • Cracken's Threat Dossier and the original StarWars.com Databank both referred to this character as Seccah, a slight variation from Secciah.
