Second mission to Obredaan

A quest to Obredaan was initiated in 32 BBY because a prior attempt had failed. Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn, both Jedi, were tasked with extracting Jedi Masters Plo Koon and Eeth Koth from the clutches of the Jin'ha. Subsequently, they uncovered the Jin'ha's cortosis mining operation and absconded with a sample.

Prelude

Back in 32 BBY, Obi-Wan Kenobi, a Jedi Padawan, engaged in combat with mercenaries and Jin'ha warriors on Coruscant. He triumphed over the arms dealers, preventing the outbreak of a war on the planet. Subsequently, the Jedi High Council dispatched Plo Koon and Eeth Koth, two Jedi Masters, to Obredaan for the purpose of investigating the Jin'ha. After communication ceased, the council then sent Kenobi and his master, Qui-Gon Jinn, to rescue the two Jedi.

The mission

To locate the wreckage of the Jedi's spaceship, Kenobi and Jinn battled through a contingent of Jin'ha warriors and snipers.

Kenobi and Jinn then infiltrated the Jin'ha mining encampment. While Jinn secured the release of the two masters, Kenobi discovered the Jin'ha's cortosis mining activities and pilfered a sample of the metal, capable of deflecting the lightsaber, the Jedi's weapon. The four Jedi convened outside the camp, overcoming the remaining warriors. Plo Koon later mentioned that he had observed a large-scale production facility while he was held captive.

Aftermath

A Trade Federation gunship then appeared in the sky, implying to the Jedi a connection between the Trade Federation and the Jin'ha. Kenobi and Jinn provided a debriefing to the Jedi Council, and Windu informed them that the Council would address the Jin'ha directly, given the unsettling implications of weapons capable of countering the Jedi. Several weeks later, the Trade Federation violated the Jedi Council's trust and blockaded the planet of Naboo. Kenobi's subsequent investigation revealed that the Jin'ha were, in fact, mining cortosis for the Trade Federation. Jinn and Kenobi were assigned to secret negotiations with the Federation leadership.
