Seek Ryontarr, a male Gotal who achieved the rank of Jedi Knight within the Galactic Republic, was active in its closing decades. Before both the Clone Wars and the Great Jedi Purge, Ryontarr vanished, only to be found more than fifty years later on a space station situated deep within the Maw.
Seek Ryontarr underwent training in the ways of the Force and graduated before being chosen as a Padawan by a Jedi Master. After completing his Trials of Knighthood and being promoted to Jedi Knight by the Jedi High Council, Ryontarr was assigned numerous missions by the High Council that spanned across the galaxy. One such mission led him to Nath Goordi, where the death of the planet's leader endangered the lives of the throne's heirs. Having resolved the conflict, Ryontarr departed the planet, but never made his way back to the Temple on Coruscant.
His disappearance was considered a mystery, and the Curator of Records added Ryontarr to the list of missing Jedi, which was then included in the Great Holocron before the [Clone Wars](/article/clone_wars-legends] came to an end. With the Jedi Order's abolishment during the rise of the Galactic Empire, Ryontarr was seemingly forgotten until the ancient artifact was rediscovered after the Galactic Civil War by the leader of the reformed Order. While investigating the artifact's secrets, Grand Master Luke Skywalker encountered Ryontarr's name as he searched the text for information on the location of any surviving Jedi.
Almost a decade later, Master Skywalker and his son, Ben investigated a disturbance in the Maw, and the pair came across the enigmatic Sinkhole Station; the same station Skywalker's nephew had visited five years prior. While exploring the space station, the Skywalkers encountered a group known as the Mind Walkers, many of whom appeared to be empty shells. Ryontarr was the most willing to speak and introduced Master Skywalker to the Mind Walkers' techniques. Ryontarr convinced Skywalker to journey with him to a realm of the Force called beyond shadows in order to learn what Skywalker's nephew Darth Caedus had witnessed during his visit five years earlier. While in beyond shadows, Ryontarr's physical body died, but his Force essence continued to guide the elder Skywalker to the various locations beyond shadows that Caedus had seen half a decade before.
