Sinkhole Station, a space station situated within the Maw, bore a resemblance to Centerpoint Station, though it was noticeably smaller in size. This station served as the base of operations for the Mind Walkers, Force-sensitive individuals with the unique ability to separate their consciousness from their physical forms, enabling them to journey within the realm of the Force referred to as beyond shadows.
In the year 43.5 ABY, Luke Skywalker, accompanied by his son Ben, made a visit to the station as part of their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Darth Caedus' descent to the dark side of the Force. Shortly after the Skywalkers' arrival, a Sith strike team made their way to the station with the intention of confronting the Grand Master. Subsequently, the station met its end at the hands of the dark side entity known as Abeloth.
Luke Skywalker held the belief that the Celestials were responsible for the creation of the Maw, and this encompassed the construction of Sinkhole Station. Following the conclusion of the Yuuzhan Vong War, Jedi Knight Jacen Solo embarked on a five-year journey across the galaxy to train with various Force sects, seeking a deeper understanding of the Force. During this expedition, he visited this station, engaging with the Mind Walkers, Force-sensitive residents of the station who possessed the capability to detach their minds from their bodies, allowing them to explore a Force realm known as beyond shadows. During his stay at Sinkhole Station, Solo ventured into beyond shadows alongside the Mind Walkers.
In 43.5 ABY, two years after Solo's transition to the dark side of the Force and his transformation into the Sith Lord Darth Caedus, Jedi Grand Master Luke Skywalker and his son, Ben Skywalker, set out on a mission to unravel the mysteries surrounding Solo's fall to darkness. Their quest led them to Sinkhole Station, where they interacted with the Mind Walkers. They also encountered Qwallo Mode, a Jedi Knight who had vanished in the Maw two years prior and was presumed dead. The Mind Walkers imparted knowledge to the Skywalkers about how to navigate beyond shadows. While within this realm, Luke encountered Abeloth, who expressed a desire to communicate with him, but Luke declined. Subsequently, the Grand Master and his son also engaged in conversations with the spirits of Anakin Solo, Mara Jade Skywalker, and Jacen Solo.
Shortly after the Skywalkers' return from beyond shadows, a strike team of Sith arrived at the station, intent on assassinating Luke. The Sith ambushed the Jedi, resulting in a battle that left all but one of the Sith dead. The strike team's lone survivor, apprentice Vestara Khai, fled the station towards Dathomir, prompting the Skywalkers to pursue her from Sinkhole.
As Abeloth's power grew, she managed to escape her confinement, resulting in the destruction of the Station. Soon after, a joint Jedi and Sith strike team, led by Skywalker and Sith High Lord Sarasu Taalon, embarked on a mission to eliminate Abeloth. However, they discovered the station completely obliterated. They decided to proceed directly to her homeworld, and they observed that the black holes surrounding the planet were shifting away, leading them to speculate that the station may have been constructed by the Celestials to contain Abeloth.
