Senior Cadet was a military rank. This rank was bestowed upon older cadets within the Chiss Expansionary Defense Fleet's Taharim Academy, located on the Unknown Regions Chiss Ascendancy planet of [Naporar]. Cadets at the Carida Military academy also held this rank. Their responsibilities included the instruction and guidance of younger cadets within the academy. Around 255 BBY, both the human Wilson and the Selkath Lalutin held the rank of senior cadet while at the Carida military academy. These two cadets took advantage of their senior position to mistreat first-year cadet Lourna Dee. Between roughly 39 BBY and 37 BBY, Irizi'ar'alani, whose core name was "Ziara," served as a senior cadet, a rank she earned within the first four years of her time at Taharim Academy.
Within current Star Wars canon, the Senior Cadet rank made its debut in flashbacks featured in the 2020 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Chaos Rising, the initial book in Timothy Zahn's Star Wars: The Ascendancy Trilogy. In the Star Wars Legends timeline, the rank of Senior Cadet initially appeared in Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided, a video game from 2003 that was created by Sony Online Entertainment and released by LucasArts.
