Shilo pins served as parts for both starships and speeders. In the year 20 BBY, following the crash of Jedi shuttle 634 on Mortis, a realm strong with the Force, during a mission, Ahsoka Tano, a Padawan attempting to fix the damaged vessel, told her Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi that the Eta-class shuttle had suffered damage, including two fractured shilo pins. Years later, in 3 ABY, Kay Vess, an outlaw, found a hidden vault belonging to the Miyuki Trade League on the planet Tatooine; she deduced it had once been a speeder repair shop due to the presence of discarded shilo pins and repulsor engines.
The seventeenth episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars' third season, entitled "Ghosts of Mortis," which originally aired on February 11, 2011, included a reference to shilo pins. Later, these pins were featured in the 2024 video game Star Wars Outlaws. In the game, Kay Vess, the character controlled by the player, observes shilo pins in a room on Tatooine, although the specific items they are attached to are not identified.
