He once aided Doctor Chelli Aphra on an assignment, only to later double-cross her by aligning himself with the Trandoshan Skikkesk. Sometime afterward, Aphra, seeking retribution against Shrem and aiming to repay the hunters Winloss and Nokk for their previous act of mercy, conceived a scheme. This scheme involved the hunters collaborating with the bounty hunter Krrsantan to dupe Shrem into revealing Skikkesk's whereabouts and attempting to sell a valueless creature to Jabba the Hutt. The scheme played out as intended, resulting in Jabba consigning both Shrem and Skikkesk to his rancor's pit.
