A brief conflict, or skirmish, occurred on the planet of Kardoa between forces of the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the period known as the Clone Wars.
To investigate a potential Separatist presence and scout the planet of Kardoa, Jedi General Depa Billaba was dispatched alongside her battalion. Simultaneously, Separatist forces, led by General Grievous, General Kleeve, and Colonel Coburn Sear, were also verifying the presence of the Galactic Republic. Kleeve, seeing no strategic value in attacking Kardoa, departed for Kaller to conquer it, under the orders of Count Dooku. Grievous also left for the planet Mygeeto, leaving Colonel Sear in charge of confronting the Jedi.
Upon arrival, Billaba and her apprentice, Caleb Dume, along with their battalion, advanced towards the canyons, dividing into five squads to conduct a sweep of the area. Subsequently, Billaba's battalion found themselves under attack by battle droids. With their retreat path compromised, Billaba's battalion was unable to fall back. Consequently, she requested air support. Dume directly engaged the battle droids. Billaba then tasked Clone Corporal Big-Mouth with remaining behind with Dume to hold off the battle droids while she disabled the jamming signal.
Observing Dume's combat prowess, Colonel Sear commandeered a speeder to intercept Billaba before she could outmaneuver his forces. Dume sustained injuries and was surrounded by battle droids, but he was rescued by the clone trooper CT-1157, who gave his life to protect Dume. Despite this, Billaba and her troops began targeting Sear's shuttles. Realizing the risk of being stranded, Sear ordered a withdrawal to secure their shuttles. As a result, the Separatist forces retreated.
