The slayer ship represented a Yuuzhan Vong starfighter. These vessels were specifically designed for the Slayers serving Supreme Overlord Shimrra Jamaane during the concluding year of the Yuuzhan Vong War.
Visually, Slayer ships were constructed from three yorik coral triangles, joined together from their apexes to their bases. The initial pair of triangles featured canopies that resembled mica, while the third, which was also the largest, incorporated a "tail" at its rear, perhaps to enhance dovin basal propulsion.
These dovin basals provided the ship with the ability to enter hyperspace, a capability absent in standard coralskippers. Furthermore, the singularity defense was capable of absorbing four times the amount of incoming attacks compared to a typical coralskipper.
Yaret-kors were housed within six extensions located on each side of the ship. A single direct hit of plasma from one of these ships was capable of reducing a fully charged XJ3 X-wing deflector shield by fifty percent.
Master Shaper Qelah Kwaad engineered this ship to be the Yuuzhan Vong equivalent of a heavy assault fighter. These vessels were also larger than the standard coralskipper, and some even included passenger compartments.
The ship's appearance evoked comparisons to an Azuran stingcrawler among certain members of Twin Suns Squadron. Consequently, "stingcrawler" became the pilots' informal term for them. However, Jaina Solo, the leader of Twin Suns, perceived a stronger resemblance to the voxyn, creatures that were shaped to hunt Jedi.
While the design's similarity to the voxyn might have been unintentional, it is conceivable that Supreme Overlord Shimrra deliberately restricted the vessel's use to the Slayers as a form of insult directed at the Jedi, given that the Slayers were specifically shaped to combat them. Nevertheless, rumors suggested that the Slayer ships were actually created using voxyn genes, with the intention of granting them a basic level of Force-sensitivity.
