Slicing units, also referred to as hijack units or slicing kits, represented a technology employed by slicers for the purpose of assuming command over technological systems. Chelli Lona Aphra, a Doctor, strategically placed a number of slicing units on technology belonging to the Rebel Alliance, notably including the protocol droid known as Teezee-Too. Subsequently, she utilized one of her slicing units, which Teezee-Too had overlooked, to seize control of the aforementioned droid, enabling Aphra to issue commands to Teezee-Too. Furthermore, Aphra later deployed another slicing unit to manipulate a cam droid and disseminate the plans of Minister Pitina Voor across the galaxy.

The initial appearance of the slicing unit occurred in the thirty-third issue of the comic book series titled Star Wars: Doctor Aphra, penned by Simon Spurrier and visually brought to life by Wilton Santos, Caspar Wijngaard, and Andrea Broccardo. Marvel Comics published it on June 19, 2019. Later on, the device was given different names, such as "hijack unit" in the thirty-fourth issue and "slicing kit" in the thirty-sixth issue of the same series.
