Snub-blasters were a category of easily hidden blaster pistol, notable for having their serial numbers inscribed on the grip. Approximately three decades following the Battle of Endor, thugs working for the junk dealer Unkar Plutt on the desert planet Jakku were equipped with snub-blasters that had their serial numbers deliberately erased.
The snub-blasters were originally made to serve as props for the 2015 film Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens. Although these weapons were not named within the film itself, the reference book Star Wars: The Force Awakens: The Visual Dictionary, authored by Pablo Hidalgo and published concurrently with Episode VII, provided their designation.
