Sour tea was a variety of tea that grew on the planet of Tiikae, and it was safe for both Pantorans and Soikans to drink. In 382 BBY, Jedi Knight Azlin Rell, a human, offered a mug of the locally produced sour tea to Zallah Macri, the Soikan Jedi Master, while they were at a tavern located on Tiikae. After thanking Rell, Macri sampled the drink. As Macri was explaining the particulars of their impending mission to her Padawan, Kevmo Zink, who was a Pantoran, Zink almost spilled his tea. The Soikan then took a sip of her tea and gave him a quizzical look. Shortly thereafter, the Pantoran lifted his mug in a gesture of respect.
The young-adult novel The High Republic: Path of Deceit, which was released in 2022 and co-authored by Justina Ireland and Tessa Gratton, featured sour tea. This novel was part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase II.
