The Squintpipe, a cannonship type, served the Galactic Republic dating back to 7811 BBY. During that year, this starship participated in combat during the Signatories of Waymancy's orbital bombardment targeting Immalia, which was an event of the Waymancy Storm. Outfitted with an energy skin and an experimental shield generator, the Squintpipe played a vital role in stopping the Signatories' bombardment.
The Squintpipe was a cannonship that featured both a cutting-edge deflector shield generator and a novel energy skin for its time (7811 BBY). Interestingly, the cannonship shared its designation with the squintpipe process, a method devised by the Verpine master crafter Lyns Skutroo in the 7700s BBY to enhance the power generators used on starships.

By 7811 BBY, the Squintpipe was actively serving the Galactic Republic, amidst the outbreak of the Waymancy Storm between the Republic and the Signatories of Waymancy. As part of that war, the Signatories initiated an orbital bombardment against Immalia, a planet within the Expansion Region. The Squintpipe then maneuvered through the Signatories' fleet formation. This action successfully disrupted the bombardment, forcing the remaining enemy ships to flee towards the nearest hyperspace jump beacon to escape the star system. During a speech commemorating the 25th anniversary of Victory in the Waymancy Storm in 7786 BBY, the Republic's Supreme Chancellor Nagratha highlighted the Squintpipe's actions at Immalia as a prime example of heroism during the Waymancy Storm.
Originally, the Squintpipe was intended to be included in the 2012 reference work, The Essential Guide to Warfare, penned by Jason Fry and Paul R. Urquhart. However, the section which was to feature the starship, written by Daniel Wallace, was removed before the book's publication. Later, in 2014, the information about the Squintpipe was made available as part of Star Wars: The Essential Guide to Warfare Author's Cut, a series of articles on the StarWars.com Blog by Fry and Del Rey editor Erich Schoeneweiss, showcasing content that had been cut from The Essential Guide to Warfare.
