The Star Forge was an orbital manufacturing plant under construction. It orbited the Unknown Regions world of Tulpaa, and its construction began after the fall of the Infinite Empire. This Star Forge was designed as a smaller counterpart to the original Star Forge installation of the Infinite Empire. That original facility resided in the Lehon system and possessed the capability to produce both capital ships and combat droids. Like its predecessor, the Tulpaa Star Forge incorporated creation engines powered by the dark side of the Force.
The Tulpaa tribe, known as one of the most technologically advanced Rakatan societies after the Infinite Empire's demise, undertook the construction of the Star Forge above Tulpaa. This construction endeavor became a competitive point between Tulpaa and the planet Makatak, where a similar orbital station was concurrently being built.
The Star Forge represented a space station in the process of being constructed in orbit surrounding the planet Tulpaa within the Unknown Regions' Tulpaa system. It was envisioned as a downsized version of the original Star Forge, which was an orbital factory established by the Infinite Empire of the Rakata species in the Lehon system before the empire's disintegration around 25,200 BBY.
The original Star Forge harnessed the power of the dark side of the Force and could generate an almost unlimited supply of warships and battle droids. Measuring approximately half a kilometer in size and featuring a metal framework, the Tulpaa Star Forge was significantly smaller than its antecedent but still housed creation engines fueled by the dark side.

The Tulpaa tribe, one of several Rakatan groups that scattered after the Infinite Empire's collapse and established settlements on planets later known as the Rakatan Archipelago, initiated the construction of the Star Forge over Tulpaa. Due to a plague that severed the Rakatan species' inherent connection to the Force during the Infinite Empire's downfall, these tribes could no longer utilize the advanced Force-powered Rakatan technology that remained. While the tribes of the Rakatan Archipelago eventually declined into primitivism, the Tulpaa tribe gradually rose to become one of the most sophisticated surviving Rakatan societies over time.
The Tulpaa tribe commenced the construction of the scaled-down Star Forge, leading to competition with the Rakatan tribe from the planet Makatak, who were concurrently constructing a similar station. At a certain point, Ruthic, an Elder priest within the tribe, uniquely began to develop a sensitivity to the Force. Ruthic assumed leadership of the Tulpaa tribe after banishing the previous leaders into a Rakatan mind prison device.
From that same device, Ruthic freed the Sith sorcerer Raspir, who, as a practitioner of the dark side of the Force, offered Ruthic insightful guidance on how to manipulate the Star Forge's manufacturing capabilities to her advantage. By this juncture, the framework of the orbital station was already materializing in Tulpaa's atmosphere.
At some stage, a group of individuals identified the Tulpaa Star Forge as a target for sabotage.
The Tulpaa Star Forge was referenced in The Unknown Regions, a sourcebook designed for the Star Wars Roleplaying Game and developed by Wizards of the Coast. Sterling Hershey, Rodney Thompson, and Daniel Wallace authored The Unknown Regions, which was published in 2010. The book presents an adventure premise centered around the Star Forge for use within the Star Wars Roleplaying Game. This article presumes the full completion of that scenario.
