In Service of the Republic represented the second story arc within the comic-book series titled Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Henry Gilroy, who served as the main writer for the initial season of the television series, and Steven Melching, a writer for multiple episodes of the television series, jointly crafted the narrative for this story. This arc unfolded across three issues, spanning from July 15 to September 16 of 2009.
Kit Fisto, along with Plo Koon, both Jedi, are dispatched on an assignment alongside a unit of Republic commandos. Their objective is to liberate the Khormai people and obliterate the icy mountain stronghold held by the Separatists. However, their success is jeopardized by challenging weather conditions, the presence of a Republic captain lacking courage, and the imminent arrival of a notorious assassin.
During the events of this arc, Wolffe sustains an eye injury inflicted by Asajj Ventress. This particular event was subsequently integrated into the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series, with Wolffe appearing in the episode "Holocron Heist" exhibiting the same injury. In 2011, two action figures depicting Plo Koon and Kit Fisto, dressed in their cold-weather attire from this story arc, were released.
