Back cover

The Clone Wars, in all their ferocity, reveal hidden agendas and even darker fates, forcing a crucial question: Can any objective justify the methods used to achieve it? The Jedi are about to discover the answer.

Inside flap

Across the galaxy, the Clone Wars are in full swing. Count Dooku, a former Jedi who is secretly a Sith Lord, leads the Separatists in their relentless advance, causing more and more planets to either surrender or break away and join their cause. The Republic, under the command of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, fights valiantly, supported by its vast army of clone troopers and their Jedi commanders.

Anakin Skywalker, who some believe is the "Chosen One" prophesied to bring balance to the Force, is now a Jedi Knight being trained by his Jedi Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi. Death is a constant threat, and his chances of survival are further complicated by the unexpected arrival of Ahsoka, a spirited but inexperienced fourteen-year-old Padawan. However, Anakin has no time to question his new orders. He and Obi-Wan have been given a new assignment, and failure is not an option.

Jabba the Hutt's young son has been abducted, and the desperate parent turns to the Jedi for assistance. Anakin, Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, and their clone troops are tasked with finding the evidence and rescuing the missing Huttlet. The stakes are high: a grateful Jabba might grant the Republic access to the Hutt-controlled hyperspace lanes, which the Grand Army desperately needs to defeat the Separatists.

However, the Republic is not the only faction seeking access to these vital hyperspace lanes. Count Dooku is determined to secure them for the Separatists and has laid a trap for the Jedi. When they locate the Huttlet, they will also encounter Dooku's deadly assassin, Asajj Ventress, and countless battle droids ready to ambush them.

The exciting new animated film, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, is set before the events of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and serves as a prelude to the groundbreaking TV series. Both feature original content created by the legendary Star Wars creator George Lucas. These thrilling new adventures and characters are brought to life in book form by none other than Karen Traviss, the #1 New York Times bestselling Star Wars author.

Continuity

Star Wars: The Clone Wars has introduced several continuity discrepancies.

Dating of events

The Star Wars Annual 2011 clarifies that the narrative unfolds during the war's second year, aligning with the revised Clone Wars timeline necessitated by the TV series. The Essential Reader's Companion adjusted the story's timeline to 22 BBY.

The book's release predated the film's premiere, leading to the inclusion of details from early screenplay versions that were ultimately omitted from the final film.

CT-9932

During the Battle of Teth, after Asajj Ventress's droid forces decimate most of Torrent Company, close to the conclusion of chapter 12, Captain Rex requests that the survivors report in using their comlink. He receives six responses, including those from Coric and CT-9932.

When the surviving troopers are next referenced near the end of chapter 13, the total count remains at six—Rex, Coric, Zeer, Attie, Nax, and Del—a number that remains consistent throughout the Teth sequence. This aligns with Rex's observation upon regaining consciousness, where his helmet's HUD indicates that five of his men are still alive. This suggests that two of the six comlink responses in chapter 12 originated from the same trooper, implying that CT-9932 is the designation for either Zeer, Attie, Nax, or Del. However, the novel does not explicitly link it to any specific trooper.
