Star Wars: The Han Solo Trilogy is a series of novels within the Star Wars Legends continuity, penned by the author A. C. Crispin. This trilogy consists of the novels The Paradise Snare (1997), The Hutt Gambit (1997), and Rebel Dawn (1998). These books narrate the origin story of Han Solo, starting from his formative years and culminating right before his entrance into the cantina as seen in the movie Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.
During the writing process for Star Wars: The Han Solo Trilogy, Lucasfilm instructed and requested A. C. Crispin to omit details regarding Han Solo's time at the Imperial Academy and his initial meeting with Chewbacca. However, she received permission to include a brief explanation of Han's rescue of Chewbacca from enslavement by the Empire, which resulted in his dismissal and the establishment of a life debt. Crispin also faced the difficulty of illustrating how Han came to know his cousin, Thracken Sal Solo, despite lacking any knowledge of his parents, even their names.
Initially, the three books were published as individual releases. Subsequently, they were re-released in a single volume as a Science Fiction Book Club edition under the title The Han Solo Trilogy and as an audiobook version called The Han Solo Omnibus. Notably, the Sci-Fi Book Club edition omits the epilogue from The Hutt Gambit.
A leather-bound hardcover edition, designated as a Barnes & Noble Collectible Edition, became available on October 20, 2017.
