Star Wars 29: Dark Encounter represents the twenty-ninth installment in the Marvel Star Wars comic book collection.
The Sith Lord Darth Vader uncovers the fact that Tyler Lucian, a former Rebel soldier who abandoned his post, possesses knowledge of the identity of the Rebellion pilot responsible for the destruction of the Death Star. Simultaneously, the galactic bounty hunter known as Beilert Valance is also pursuing Lucian, albeit with an alternative objective: to stop Vader from acquiring the information. The pair engage in a fierce confrontation close to Lucian's refuge at Rubyflame Lake, resulting in a massive fight between the two cybernetically enhanced beings. Vader emerges as the victor when Valance is submerged in the deadly and corrosive lake waters, granting the dark lord unimpeded access to Lucian's hiding place. However, Lucian, choosing not to await Vader's arrival, leaps into Rubyflame Lake, ending his own life and foiling Vader's intentions.
