Star Wars Rebels Season One

Star Wars Rebels Season One, the inaugural season of the Star Wars Rebels animated television show, originally aired on the Disney Channel on October 3, 2014 with the one-hour television film Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion. The series then continued on Disney XD starting on October 13 with the debut of "Droids in Distress", and concluded on March 2, 2015 with "Fire Across the Galaxy". Dave Filoni, Simon Kinberg, and Greg Weisman served as executive producers for this season.

Taking place five years prior to the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, the initial season centers on the crew of the starship Ghost during the early stages of their resistance against the Galactic Empire. Their activities draw the attention of Agent Kallus from the Imperial Security Bureau, who seeks to eliminate them before they can incite a larger uprising, and the Grand Inquisitor, a dark sider tasked with hunting down any Jedi who survived Order 66, including Kanan Jarrus and his new apprentice, Ezra Bridger. Ultimately, the Ghost's crew plays a role in the formation of the Rebel Alliance.

Production

The writing and animation process for the series' first episode commenced by December 2013. By January 2014, the scripts for Season One were approximately halfway finished, with voice recording completed for five episodes and other episodes in various stages of development. Keith Kellogg, the animation supervisor, announced on January 17 that the first episode was entirely animated.

On May 9, 2014, Simon Kinberg verified that the first season would consist of 16 episodes (presented as four shorts, a movie, and 13 episodes), and that he personally authored the first two episodes (later re-branded as a movie) as well as the season's concluding episode.
