Switchmount was a site of operations for the 61st Mobile Infantry, an infantry company within the Rebel Alliance and, subsequently, the New Republic. While stationed there, the company's attempts to stop locals from killing each other backfired, exacerbating the conflict. In 5 ABY, the 61st found itself on the planet Troithe, where some members sought shelter in a three-story speeder garage located in the Highgarden District. Sergeant Carver referenced their experience at Switchmount to explain why he believed that intervening in a distant riot, as suggested by a New Republic soldier on watch, would be a bad idea.
The 2020 novel Shadow Fall, penned by Alexander Freed and serving as the second book in the Star Wars: Alphabet Squadron trilogy, included a reference to Switchmount.
