During the Galactic War and the Cold War between the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic, Tala-Reh served as a female elite member of the Voss commandos. She was a Voss warrior who participated in numerous conflicts against the Gormaks. Following the death of her husband in a battle with the Gormaks, Tala-Reh vowed to exact vengeance for his demise.
Around the year 3640 BBY, she crossed paths with the Hero of Tython upon his arrival on Voss. The Hero had come to thwart the scheme of Sith Lord Fulminiss to obliterate the planet. Tala-Reh explained her quest to locate the Mystic Valen-Da, who had abandoned the Shrine of Healing to follow Fulminiss. In response, the Hero proposed a collaborative effort to foil Fulminiss's plans. Tala-Reh initially hesitated to form an alliance with a Jedi, fearing potential harm to Valen-Da. However, before either party could act, they were ambushed by three Sith apprentices who were seemingly driven insane. After dispatching their attackers, Tala-Reh discovered a holorecording on one of the corpses, revealing that Fulminiss had unleashed a plague of madness upon his own apprentices. Subsequently, Tala-Reh instructed the Jedi to convene with her at the Pilgrim Retreat, a nearby supply depot, to resume their pursuit in earnest.
At their subsequent meeting within the camp, Tala-Reh informed the Hero of her inability to enter the Shrine of Healing. Later, the Hero returned, revealing Fulminiss's corruption of a Voss healing ritual to amplify his plague of madness. He then presented Tala-Reh with a holocommunicator left by Valen-Da, specifically designed to function only for her. The message conveyed that Fulminiss was en route to the Dark Heart within the Nightmare Lands, desiring both the Hero and Tala-Reh to locate him. The challenge for the pair was that the only existing maps charting the Nightmare Lands were held by the Gormaks. Consequently, the Hero journeyed to Gorma-Koss to secure the maps before reuniting with Tala-Reh within the Nightmare Lands.
The Hero and Tala-Reh battled their way into the Dark Heart, where they engaged Fulminiss in combat, ultimately defeating him. In the aftermath, Valen-Da revealed his motivations for accompanying Fulminiss: to guide Tala-Reh to the Dark Heart. He explained that he had foreseen a vision in which Tala-Reh would sacrifice herself to eradicate the dark side entity known as Sel-Makor, thereby ending the war with the Gormak and ushering in an era of peace on Voss. However, Sel-Makor resisted, refusing to succumb. He attempted to sway the Hero with promises of power if the Jedi cast Valen-Da into his maw. The Hero refused, leading Tala-Reh to descend into the maw's depths, where she vanished in a radiant golden light, obliterating Sel-Makor for good. Grieved by her sacrifice, the Hero secured Valen-Da's promise to ensure that Tala-Reh's act of selflessness would be forever remembered.
