Team Womp Rat was among the five Jedi strike teams dispatched to Corellia as a component of Operation Roundabout, the Galactic Alliance's operation. Directly under the command of the Second Fleet, Womp Rat comprised Hardpoint Squadron's ten XJ6 X-wing starfighters. These were piloted by Luke Skywalker, his spouse Mara, and eight additional Jedi pilots, accompanied by the shuttle Chandrila Skies and its personnel. Their objective involved extracting the surface-based snatch squads, specifically Team Tauntaun and Team Purella, and potentially the observation unit known as Team Slashrat.
When Operation Roundabout was unexpectedly ambushed by Corellian forces on all fronts, Womp Rat faced an assault from a group of eighteen Corellian attack fighters, in addition to flak artillery from ground emplacements. The team sustained the most significant losses of all Jedi units participating in the operation, including the Rodian pilot Toile Senn, the Chandrila Skies, and its entire crew. Consequently, the Purella-Tauntaun commando teams were compelled to devise an impromptu escape by "acquiring" a shuttle from Behareh Spaceport. Despite their losses, Womp Rat persisted in providing fighter support until the commando teams successfully escaped.
