The narrative incorporates droids and vehicles drawing inspiration from designs conceived by Kenner for a proposed toy series, The Epic Continues, intended to be set following the events of Return of the Jedi. On the spaceport planet of Cadinth, a New Republic outpost finds itself under assault from an Imperial battalion. As Republic pilots scramble to their [Defenders](/article/defender_starfighter], Imperial Sniper airspeeders descend into the battlefield. AP-2, AP-3, and AP-1-C attack droids, numbering in the hundreds, proceed to eliminate the lightly defended Republic infantry, while the Imperial Snipers establish aerial dominance. Lieutenant Brin Stiels of the Republic attempts to contact Republic Core Base for reinforcements, but succumbs to smoke inhalation and collapses. The story concludes as a contingent of AT-ATs emerges on the horizon, targeting his location.
