The Princess and the Scoundrel, penned by Beth Revis, is a canon novel that unfolds shortly after the events depicted in Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi. The narrative centers around the wedding of Han Solo and Leia Organa and the couple's subsequent honeymoon voyage aboard the Halcyon Star Cruiser. Del Rey released it to the public on August 16, 2022.
You're invited to celebrate the union of Princess Leia Organa and Han Solo.
The dreaded Death Star has fallen. Darth Vader is no more. The Empire crumbles. Yet, amidst the shifting tides of the galaxy on Endor's forest moon, time pauses for a princess and the rogue she loves.
After enduring carbonite imprisonment and risking all for the Rebellion, Han yearns to prioritize his own life. He and Leia have more than earned a future together. His proposal to Leia marks a rare moment of optimism. For Leia, the endless battles seem far from over. She still has duties, atonement for the dark lineage she now knows she carries. Her brother, Luke, offers her such an opportunity–one intertwined with family and the promise of the Force. Yet, when Han asks for her hand, Leia's answer is immediate and heartfelt: Yes.
However, their path to happiness is fraught with challenges. Immediately after their idyllic Endor ceremony, Han and Leia embark on their honeymoon, taking them to the most extravagant stage imaginable: the Halcyon, a luxurious vessel on a highly publicized tour of the galaxy's most spectacular destinations. Their marriage, symbolizing peace and prosperity, attracts attention from all corners of the galaxy–including Imperial remnants desperate to regain control.
In their darkest hour, the Empire's forces have scattered, entrenching themselves on isolated worlds vulnerable to their influence. As the Halcyon journeys from planet to planet, a stark reality emerges: the war persists. Yet, as danger looms, Han and Leia discover their greatest strength lies in fighting together, as husband and wife.
During its production phase, The Princess and the Scoundrel was initially known as "Misbehaving." StarWars.com officially announced the book on February 14, 2022.
While The High Republic: The Battle of Jedha held the logo first in hardcover format, the paperback version of The Princess and the Scoundrel marks the debut of the "Random House Worlds" imprint on its spine and copyright page, according to Tom Hoeler, a senior editor at Del Rey.
