As a fortified entry point, "The Tunnel" provided access to Moonbender Colony. Situated inside a tower, its walls incorporated magnetic seals, enabling the Remainders—the ex-bounty hunters responsible for the colony's management and defense—to position their blaster fire in a way that made it impossible to shield against. During the attack on the colony by the Sith apprentice Darth Maul, he gained entry to the tower by way of the Tunnel. Even with the efforts of General Zandloss and various other defenders, Maul successfully navigated the blast tunnel and broke through into the remainder of the colony.
