Tionese (group)

The Tionese represented a distinct cultural group comprised of humans who originated from the region known as the Tion Cluster. Within the Tion Cluster, the Tionese people developed a civilization of great pride and antiquity, existing independently and in contrast to the Galactic Republic that was centered in the Core Worlds.

History

Tionese Task Force above Galuch

The origins of the Tionese can be traced back to approximately 27,000 BBY, when a Coruscanti "sleeper ship" arrived in the Tion Cluster. Quickly, the Tionese began constructing their own unique society, advancing technologically with inventions such as beam tubes and their own unique form of the hyperdrive. This localized hyperdrive system integrated pieces of ancient Rakatan technology with strategically placed hyperspace beacons, enabling travel within a specific area but posing risks when attempting to navigate beyond the beacon network. This effectively isolated the Tionese from the broader galaxy for thousands of years, although they did occasionally encounter the expanding Hutt Empire.

Between 25,130 BBY and 25,100 BBY, Xim the Despot, the son of a pirate who had established his own territory (the Kingdom of Cron) during the Cronese Sweeps, sought to defeat the rival Hutts and gain control over the entire Si'Klaata Cluster during the period known as the Xim Wars. This military endeavor resulted in the destruction of the once-thriving Hutt planet of Ko Vari in 25,102 BBY. However, at the Third Battle of Vontor, the Hutts deployed their newly assembled army of Klatooinian, Vodran, and Nikto mercenaries against Xim's forces of war-robots.

According to Tionese historical narratives, Xim met his end during battle; however, he was actually captured by the Hutts and subsequently died as a slave within the palace of Kossak the Hutt on Varl. Nevertheless, his treasure-laden vessel, the Queen of Ranroon, managed to escape to the planet Dellalt, where it remained hidden for millennia. In the aftermath of the battle, the Treaty of Vontor was formalized between the Hutts, Klatooinians, Vodrans, and Nikto. This treaty established the Hutts as the supreme rulers over the three other species and the Si'Klaata Cluster.

Subsequently, Xim's empire fragmented into several warring factions, including the Honorable Union of Desevro and Tion, the Indrexu Confederation, the Jaminere Marches, the Keldrath Alignment, the Kingdom of Cron, and the Thanium Worlds. Later, the Tionese states encountered the Galactic Republic and attempted to conquer it by advancing along the Perlemian Trade Route, but their progress was halted by the establishment of the outpost world of Ossus. During the Tionese War in 24,000 BBY, the Galactic Republic engaged in conflict with the Honorable Union of Desevro and Tion, resulting in the bombing of the capital cities of both governments—Coruscant and Desevro—using pressure bombs. However, the Republic emerged victorious by strategically using its agents to instigate unrest within Hutt space, thereby exacerbating the tensions between the Hutts and the Tionese.

Within a century, the majority of the Tion Cluster had integrated into the Republic. Consequently, the once-proud Tion Cluster diminished in significance and became a remote region. Nevertheless, the planet Lianna became the central headquarters of Santhe/Sienar Technologies at some point during the Galactic Republic era. Under the rule of the Galactic Empire, the Tion Cluster was divided into three distinct sectors: the Allied Tion sector, the Tion Hegemony, and the Cronese Mandate (formerly the territory of the Cronese Sweeps).
