Toht Ra was a Hylobon of the male persuasion who was a part of Dryden Vos' security forces, functioning as an assistant on the First Light. Ra was responsible for taking possession of any weapons that guests brought onto the yacht. He was armed with both a percussive cannon and a vibrocutlass in the event of any issues. Qi'ra, who served as Vos' lieutenant, would eventually utilize Ra's weapon during her fight with Vos.
Phil Szostak, when asked by a fan if Toht Ra's name was inspired by the Indiana Jones series, mentioned that the character's name came from Arnold Ernst Toht, the Gestapo operative from the 1981 movie Raiders of the Lost Ark (penned by Lawrence Kasdan) who suffers a burn to his hand from the headpiece to the Staff of Ra. However, he believes that Pablo Hidalgo of the Lucasfilm Story Group was the individual most likely responsible for creating the name.
