Vibrocutlass

A vibrocutlass was a bladed variant within the family of vibro weapons. A Hylobon Enforcer named Toht Ra, who also served as an attendant on the First Light, the yacht owned by crime lord Dryden Vos, possessed a bundki vibrocutlass. Ra's role, assigned by Vos, was to take weapons from guests as they boarded the First Light, and he kept his vibrocutlass readily accessible in case of any disturbances.

Description

A vibrocutlass was a bladed vibro weapon that incorporated both a blade and a hilt. One such vibrocutlass was characterized by a curved blade of silver color and a hilt designed to resemble a green dragon, complete with a red crystal set at the end. The bundki vibrocutlass represented another vibrocutlass type; it could be charged and featured a straight blade that split into two points at the tip, paired with a hilt of black and gold.

History

The Hylobon Enforcers, a security force of Hylobon individuals working for crime lord Dryden Vos, the public face of the Crimson Dawn criminal organization, employed the bundki vibrocutlass on his yacht, the First Light. Toht Ra, a Hylobon Enforcer who also worked as an attendant, confiscating weapons from boarding guests, carried a charged bundki vibrocutlass. Ra kept his vibrocutlass close by, along with a percussive cannon, to handle any potential issues. Qi'ra engaged in combat with Dryden Vos’s custom made petar using a vibrocutlass.

Behind the scenes

Within the new Star Wars canon, the vibrocutlass was initially referenced on a card within Legacies, a card pack for Star Wars: Destiny, which was released in February of 2018 and included artwork by Joel Hustak. Hustak posted the artwork for the card on Instagram, stating that the vibrocutlass in the image belonged to Hondo Ohnaka, although this detail was not included on the Destiny card itself. The bundki vibrocutlass marked the weapon's debut in the 2018 Anthology movie, Solo: A Star Wars Story, with its designation confirmed in Solo: A Star Wars Story The Official Guide, a companion book by Pablo Hidalgo.

In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the vibrocutlass was first mentioned in Star Wars Miniatures Battles, the core rulebook for the West End Games tabletop RPG of the same name written by Stephen Crane and Paul Murphy and published in 1991.
