Bane's stone sarcophagus concealed a clandestine entry to a chamber utilized by the ancient Sith for the purpose of sacrificing Jedi.
Darth Bane emerged as the lone Sith survivor following the conclusion of the Jedi-Sith War. He established a novel Sith doctrine known as the Rule of Two, stipulating that only a pair of Sith—a master and an apprentice—could simultaneously exist in time. Bane acquired his own apprentice, Darth Zannah, and commenced the transmission of his accumulated knowledge. Subsequent to Bane's alleged demise at the hands of his apprentice, his mortal remains were interred within a sarcophagus. Bane holds the distinction of being the last Sith Lord to undergo burial in the Valley of the Dark Lords on Moraband before its eventual desertion.

Upon entering Darth Bane's tomb, Yoda was confronted by a vision of the ancient Sith Lord. The spectral manifestation of the Sith endeavored to entice the Jedi Master to embrace the dark side, but Yoda staunchly resisted. Bane's spirit then vanished into the sarcophagus, and Yoda pressed onward with his quest.
