Traavis was a Jedi Knight of the Human male variety, holding the rank of general during the tumultuous era of the Clone Wars. In the year 19 BBY, amid the Galactic Republic's extensive sieges across the Outer Rim, Traavis spearheaded a five-month campaign against the Cassandran Worlds consisting of Monhudle, New Bakstre, and Biitu.
Later that same year, he redeployed his troops to the Separatist-controlled world known as Garqi. Following the securing of the planet, Traavis issued directives to the clone commandos of Aiwha Squad to locate any surviving civilians and escort them to designated refugee camps. While he was in the process of inspecting these camps, the aforementioned squad returned, bringing with them an orphaned boy named Evan, whose parents had tragically died during a conflict between the Grand Army of the Republic's clone troopers and the Confederacy's battle droids. Traavis then engaged in conversation with the young boy and commended the squad for the successful completion of their assigned mission. However, as the Jedi was addressing the other commandos, the leader of Aiwha Squad, Sarge, received the infamous Order 66 directly from Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, which commanded all clone troopers to immediately eliminate all Jedi. In response, the clones swiftly turned on Traavis and carried out his execution.
Traavis, a Human male, was born in the waning decades of the Galactic Republic on the asteroid called Skip 5, which was situated within the Smuggler's Run. During the Clone Wars, the war between the Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Traavis served both the Jedi Order and the Republic, holding the dual roles of Jedi Knight and general within the Grand Army of the Republic. In 19 BBY, amidst the Republic's Outer Rim Sieges, Traavis commanded a five-month military operation against the Cassandran Worlds of Monhudle, New Bakstre, and Biitu. Later that year, Traavis's forces captured the planet Garqi, prompting the Jedi Knight to begin inspecting the planet's severely overcrowded refugee camps. He instructed the clone commandos of Aiwha Squad to seek out civilians and bring them to the camps to ensure their safety. Traavis eventually received confirmation that General Grievous, the Supreme Commander of the Separatist Droid Army, had been killed.

During one of Traavis's inspections of a refugee camp, Sarge, the leader of Aiwha Squad, provided a report detailing the mission's success. The commando also introduced the Jedi to a young boy named Evan, whose parents had been killed during a battle between the Republic's clones and the Separatist's battle droids. Traavis assured Evan that arrangements would be made for him to have a bed and food within the refugee camp. He praised the squad for their successful mission and informed them of Grievous's demise, suggesting that the war was likely drawing to a close. However, while Traavis was in consultation with the other clones, RC-1013 received Order 66 from Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, which commanded them to identify and eliminate the Jedi Knights, who were now considered enemies of the Republic. Sarge immediately ordered Aiwha Squad to execute Traavis without hesitation. The Jedi attempted to draw his lightsaber in self-defense, but he was swiftly killed by the squad's concentrated blaster fire.
The specifics surrounding Traavis's death were documented in a report filed by Sarge shortly after Palpatine declared himself Emperor of the newly formed Galactic Empire. The official records, which had been altered by Imperial Advisor Sate Pestage from a compilation of various reports compiled by Moff Marcellin Wessel, claimed that Traavis was killed while attempting to abduct children with the intention of indoctrinating them into the Jedi Order.
Traavis displayed genuine concern for the well-being of civilians displaced on Garqi during the Clone Wars, personally inspecting the overcrowded refugee camps following the planet's capture. He was also willing to deploy his forces to search for any surviving refugees in need of assistance. Upon being introduced to Evan by RC-1013, Traavis took steps to ensure that the boy would receive proper care and attention. After Aiwha Squad reported the successful completion of their mission, Traavis expressed his satisfaction and made sure to congratulate the clones involved. His lightsaber was powered by a green crystal.
Traavis made his first appearance in the short story titled "Orders," penned by Ryan Kaufman and illustrated by Rick Lacy. "Orders" was included as one of four stories within the fourth volume of the Star Wars: Clone Wars Adventures trade paperback series. He was also featured in the article "Order 66: Destroy All Jedi," which was published in Star Wars Insider 87. The article included an image of a live actor portraying the character. Traavis was later given his own entry in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia. Kaufman named Traavis in honor of the author Karen Traviss, known for her work on the Star Wars: Republic Commando series of novels.
