Triangle-High Forward is a specific arrangement utilized by starships within the Defense Fleet of the New Republic to execute patrol assignments while keeping their detectability as low as possible.
In this formation, a starship equipped with superior sensors, for example, a picket ship, was positioned at the front. A starship of comparable size, but with greater offensive capabilities, like a gunship, followed at a distance of one hundred kilometers behind the lead ship. Lastly, a heavy cruiser, serving as the command vessel for the patrol, would operate parallel to the gunship in what was known as the "anchor position".
The Fifth Battle Group, consisting of the Agave-class picket vessel Folna, the Warrior-class gunship _Vanguard_, and the Majestic-class heavy cruiser _Indomitable_, and led by Commodore Brand, employed the triangle-high forward formation as they scanned the ILC-905 system just before the Battle of ILC-905.
