A tribunal took place to judge Han Solo during his time as a cadet. The charge against Solo at this tribunal was failure to obey a command given directly to him. The verdict was guilty, and as a consequence, Solo was transferred to the infantry unit stationed on Mimban.
The first appearance of Han Solo's tribunal occurred within the novelization of Solo: A Star Wars Story, a film in the Star Wars Anthology, penned by Mur Lafferty and launched on September 4, 2018. Although filmed, the scenes depicting the tribunal were removed from the final cut of the movie. Lawrence and Jon Kasdan, who wrote the screenplay, strongly advocated for the inclusion of the tribunal, viewing it as essential to the narrative. Nevertheless, they ultimately concluded that these scenes disrupted the narrative's pacing and decided to omit them.
The tribunal scene included Star Wars Legends characters Tag Greenley and Bink Otauna, who were originally conceived by Kevin Rubio for his Star Wars: Tag & Bink comic book series. Costume designers Glyn Dillon and David Crossman, VFX Supervisor and producer Rob Bredow, and Ron Howard's spouse, Cheryl, along with other production team members, made cameo appearances in the scene.
