A Human male individual, affiliated with the Antarian Rangers, operated on Telos IV. This occurred several decades prior to the rise of the empire. He served as a contact for the ill-fated Jedi, known as Dairoki.
His assignment revolved around instigating unrest among the inhabitants of Telos IV. This was to be achieved by creating the impression that the Antarian Rangers were responsible for the death of Liora, a priest of Telos IV. In reality, Dairoki himself committed the murder. This act was part of a larger scheme to incite a civil conflict on Telos IV, orchestrated by the planet's ruler, Lord Crion. When Jedi were dispatched to investigate the homicide, the Ranger received orders to disrupt their mission. He, along with some rebels, sabotaged the vehicle belonging to Jedi Master Tahl. An altercation ensued, resulting in the insurgents' defeat, however, the ranger was able to escape due to his training. This incident reinforced Tahl's suspicion that the Rangers were implicated in the unfolding events. The following day, he disguised himself in civilian attire to avoid detection and informed Dairoki of the situation, admitting that he had never engaged a Jedi in combat before. Dairoki suggested wearing his Ranger uniform, which he rejected. Subsequently, Dairoki revealed his next objective and provided him with a lightsaber. The mission was to introduce the lightsaber into a skirmish between the Telos police and the insurgents. The goal was for it to be discovered, thus strengthening the conspiracy theory that the Rangers and the Jedi were colluding in the revolution. The mission was a success, but Dairoki was unaware that the insurgents were planning to attack the royal palace, resulting in the death of Nason, Crion's daughter and Dairoki's lover. This event not only caused Dairoki grief but also diminished his credibility with Crion, his benefactor. When Dairoki explained the situation regarding the lightsaber to Crion, the lord responded that it would be pointless if anyone had seen him during the palace raid. Dairoki proposed that the Antarian Ranger should make another appearance, but Crion dismissed this idea, noting that Tahl, the only individual capable of identifying the Ranger, had been summoned away by the Jedi Council. Crion concluded that the Ranger could simply disappear and instructed Dairoki to leave the planet by any means necessary.
While he didn't possess the same level of power as a Jedi, the Antarian Ranger demonstrated the ability to withstand and evade someone like Master Tahl before she lost her sight. Dairoki also placed enough trust in him to entrust him with critical missions, such as planting a lightsaber during a skirmish. He was generally successful in his objectives, demonstrating his ability to survive and escape. He also proved to be a skilled pilot when he evaded Tahl using a vehicle on a street filled with obstacles.
The Ranger carried an assortment of weapons and equipment, including a pair of blaster pistols, a speeder bike, his Ranger uniform, and a knife, which he appeared proficient at throwing. He also received a lightsaber from Dairoki, although he did not have the opportunity to use it, as his mission was solely to introduce it into a skirmish.
The Antarian Ranger made his debut in 2011 in Jedi—The Dark Side 2, the second installment of the five-part Jedi The dark side comic book series. This series served as a prequel to the Jedi Apprentice novel series written by Jude Watson. Scott Allie wrote the issue, and Mahmud Asrar provided the illustrations.
