Designed for brief but intense surprise attacks at close range, the WESTAR-34 blaster pistol was made from an expensive dallorian alloy that was able to withstand continual firing, raising it to temperatures that would melt most ordinary blasters. The Mandalorian bounty hunter Jango Fett owned a pair of custom-fit WESTAR-34 blaster pistols made by Concordian Crescent Technologies that were modified with the handles being hollowed out, giving them an overall lower weight for a faster draw.
Jango used his blasters against Obi-Wan Kenobi when the Jedi Knight attempted to arrest him on Kamino, losing one of them to the raging seas when Kenobi kicked him off the edge of the platform they were fighting on and subsequently was forced to rely on only one blaster. Jango used his remaining blaster during the Battle of Geonosis, killing Jedi Master and Council member Coleman Trebor and then a charging reek by shooting it in the eye. However, his skills and luck failed him when he encountered Mace Windu, who easily deflected all of the bounty hunter's shots before destroying his remaining blaster and cleaving his head off with a single swing of his purple-bladed lightsaber.
Jango's son Boba Fett would also make use of a custom set of WESTAR-34s during the early stages of his bounty hunting career, wielding them against Kage Warriors during an operation on Quarzite. Around 10 BBY, Boba was still using a WESTAR-34 and used one during the skirmish on Corellia.
