WESTAR-34 blaster pistol

The WESTAR-34 blaster pistol represented a specific type of blaster pistol that was produced by Concordian Crescent Technologies. Furthermore, this manufacturer created a personalized pair of WESTAR-34s for the Mandalorian bounty hunter known as Jango Fett, and briefly for Boba Fett.

Features

The WESTAR-34 blaster pistol, intended for quick, intense, and close-quarters surprise attacks, was constructed using a costly dallorian alloy. This alloy allowed the weapon to endure continuous firing, reaching temperatures that would cause most standard blasters to melt. The Mandalorian bounty hunter Jango Fett possessed a pair of custom WESTAR-34 blaster pistols, crafted by Concordian Crescent Technologies, which had modified handles, hollowed out to reduce their overall weight for a quicker draw.

History

Jango deployed his blasters against Obi-Wan Kenobi when the Jedi Knight attempted to apprehend him on Kamino. During the altercation, one blaster was lost to the ocean when Kenobi kicked Jango off the platform's edge, forcing him to rely on a single blaster. Jango then used his remaining blaster during the Battle of Geonosis, eliminating both Jedi Master and Council member Coleman Trebor and a charging reek by shooting the reek in the eye. However, his abilities and fortune deserted him during his confrontation with Mace Windu. Windu effortlessly deflected all of the bounty hunter's shots before obliterating his last blaster and decapitating him with a single strike from his purple-bladed lightsaber.

Boba Fett, Jango's son, also utilized a customized pair of WESTAR-34s early in his bounty hunting career, employing them against Kage Warriors during a mission on Quarzite. Around 10 BBY, Boba was still using a WESTAR-34, which he used during the skirmish on Corellia.

During the competitive sporting event Hunters of the Outer Rim in 9 ABY, the Mandalorian Hunter Aran Tal wore and used various costumes and equipment, notably including a pair of WESTAR-34 blaster pistols. Tal commented that a blaster, such as the WESTAR-34, made for the best possible statement piece for a grand entrance.

Behind the scenes

Although unidentified at the time, the WESTAR-34 blaster pistol made its first appearance in the theatrical film Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones, which premiered on May 16, 2002. The blaster pistol was subsequently identified in the 2015 Ultimate Star Wars reference book published by Dorling Kindersley.
