A stormtrooper held the rank of commander within the Stormtrooper Corps of the First Order. This stormtrooper commander spearheaded an operation on the planet Kashyyyk, abducting several of its native Wookiees to be used for slavery. A modest Resistance group, which included the Wookiee Chewbacca, broke through the First Order's blockade of Kashyyyk, leading Chewbacca to venture into the Black Forest to locate the Wookiee prisoners. It was there that he crossed paths with the commander and two underlings, who were on their way to the First Order's base camp because of the Resistance's arrival. During the subsequent blaster battle, a stray shot hit a 125-Z treadspeeder bike, triggering an explosion that knocked everyone backward. As the Wookiee fled, the commander gave the order for his unit to form Omicron Formation and begin hunting their adversary. The commander engaged Chewbacca when he entered the First Order camp. Chewbacca, however, succeeded in freeing the Wookiee prisoners, who then turned on the commander.
The stormtrooper commander made an appearance in "Ghosts of Kashyyyk, Part 1," which was released as part of the 27th issue of the 2017 comic series Star Wars Adventures on October 30, 2019.
