In the year 34 ABY, subsequent to the events of the Battle of Crait, the First Order initiated a blockade around the planet Kashyyyk, which serves as the homeworld of the Wookiees. This occurred during the ongoing war between the First Order and the Resistance.
Following the Battle of Crait, the Resistance experienced significant setbacks and found themselves evading the First Order. General Leia Organa undertook a mission to Mon Cala alongside other Resistance members, seeking resources from the Mon Calamari. Leia successfully secured Mon Calamari Star Cruisers for the Resistance's use.
Orbiting above the planet Kashyyyk, the Millennium Falcon engaged in aerial combat with numerous First Order TIE fighters. The Porg named Terbus was interacting with the Falcon's control panels. Nien Nunb, serving as co-pilot alongside Chewbacca, displayed considerable anxiety as Chewbacca executed various maneuvers to fend off the TIE fighters. Daz Crano joined the battle to aid Chewbacca as additional TIE fighters arrived to engage them. During the aerial engagement, Daz and Beaumont Kin discussed Kashyyyk's history and the ongoing blockade.
The group landed on the planet's surface as Wookiees were actively removing stormtroopers from the area. After joining the other Wookiees, Chewbacca became enraged and charged into the nearby Black Forest, with Terbus following. Kin and Crano pursued Chewbacca through the forest, ultimately losing him in the most perilous section of Kashyyyk. Two stormtroopers were conversing when Chewbacca collided their heads, rendering them unconscious. A stormtrooper commander and two additional stormtroopers encountered Chewbacca. During the ensuing firefight, a speeder bike exploded, sending Chewbacca and the stormtroopers flying backward. Losing sight of their target, the stormtroopers implemented the Omicron Formation tactic and initiated a search for the Wookiee. Terbus approached Chewbacca, who then grabbed him and concealed themselves behind a bush as more stormtroopers appeared.
At the edge of the Black Forest, Beaumont Kin, Daz Crano, and Nien Nunb engaged in a discussion about their next steps in locating Chewbacca. They, along with other Resistance members, wore ponchos as Daz surveyed the woods using electrobinoculars.
Deep within the Black Forest, Chewbacca and Terbus attempted to evade stormtroopers, but Terbus inadvertently stepped on a twig, alerting the stormtroopers to their presence. Chewbacca quickly hid again as the stormtroopers began searching for him. However, Terbus made another noise, prompting the stormtroopers to open fire on their location. A stormtrooper on a speeder bike pursued Chewbacca through the forest, but Chewbacca forced the stormtrooper off the bike and seized control of it. Another speeder bike appeared and destroyed Chewbacca's. Terbus began squawking louder as Chewbacca navigated through the woods to evade the stormtroopers.
Overhead, Daz Crano piloted her X-wing over the forest, attempting to locate Chewbacca, while Beaumont Kin, Nien Nunb, and other Resistance troopers searched for Chewbacca on the ground. They discovered Chewbacca's bowcaster on the ground and continued their search through the forest. Concealed beneath debris from the stormtroopers, Chewbacca emerged and ascended to the top of a Wroshyr tree, with a struggling Terbus following. Chewbacca observed stormtroopers loading Wookiees into a shuttle. Enraged, Chewbacca noticed Crano's X-wing flying overhead, but his attempts to signal it went unnoticed. However, the stormtroopers spotted him, and Chewbacca leaped upon them and tied them up. Chewbacca then looked over to Terbus, who saluted him.
Daz Crano informed Beaumont Kin that she believed her Porg had spotted something while flying over the forest. Inside the forest, Kin dismissed the possibility. Daz decided to double-check anyway as Beaumont and his group continued through the forest. At a First Order encampment, the Wookiees were confined in a cage as the stormtrooper commander instructed two of his soldiers to locate SN-1208.
Shortly after, the two stormtroopers were walking along a river when they spotted Terbus. They questioned his identity and chased the Porg as he fled. However, the stormtroopers slipped and fell down a mudslide and into the river as Chewbacca watched from a tree. Chewbacca set up more traps for the stormtroopers and began eliminating them one by one. The stormtrooper commander, frustrated, ordered his remaining soldiers to establish a perimeter around the remaining encampment. Terbus created a diversion by triggering the alarm as Chewbacca moved to rescue the other Wookiees. However, the stormtrooper commander intervened and threatened him. Terbus then chewed through the cage cords, freeing the Wookiees. The enraged Wookiees received assistance from Beaumont and his group, causing the stormtrooper commander to retreat. Daz Crano landed her X-Wing and joined the others as more Porgs gathered. Everyone was pleased to see each other. Shortly after, the Resistance departed Kashyyyk, with Chewbacca and Nien Nunb joining them.
Following the blockade of Kashyyyk, Poe Dameron and Finn embarked on a mission to Tevel to liberate the Tevel bacta production plant from First Order occupation.
