During the Imperial Era, the Galactic Empire maintained a weapons factory for its military production needs.
The human mechanic Tamara Ryvora's grandfather sought employment during the Empire's rule. He eventually secured a position at the factory to provide sustenance for his family after other job searches proved unsuccessful. Sometime after his tenure there ended, Ryvora learned about her grandfather's service to the Empire and how it aided her relatives, although she was unaware that the factory's output included instruments of warfare.
While stationed on the supertanker fuel depot Colossus in 34 ABY, Ryvora found reassurance in the protection offered by the First Order's stormtroopers, as the presence of the Empire's ideological successors reminded her of the security the Empire provided during her grandfather's time. She briefly discussed her grandfather's past employment with her colleagues, the Resistance spy Kazuda Xiono and the mechanic Jarek Yeager, who held opposing views on the First Order's methods and drew comparisons to the Empire. Ryvora, however, viewed her grandfather as an example of an Imperial employee with benevolent intentions, suggesting that the First Order's objectives could also be beneficial. When Yeager attempted to counter her argument by highlighting the Empire's shortcomings, she dismissed his remarks and departed.

The Imperial factory was initially referenced in "The New Trooper," the sixteenth installment of the first season of the animated television program Star Wars Resistance, which initially aired on November 4, 2018. Resistance executive producer Justin Ridge believed that Ryvora's discussion of her grandfather's history as an Imperial factory employee was crucial in explaining her perspective that the Empire was not inherently malevolent.
Brandon Auman, another executive producer for the show, disclosed that Ryvora's grandfather's tenure with the Empire predated her birth. The producer further clarified that Ryvora was not fully aware that the factory job that had once supported her family was, in part, involved in the production of implements of war.
