A thinking race of jungle primitives once lived on Janguine, a world situated within the Halthor sector of the Outer Rim Territories. These primitives, who possessed sentience, shared their home world with the Mooloolian tribes, who dwelled in the hilly areas of the planet. By 275 BBY, the jungle primitives disappeared, and the Mooloolian tribes integrated their tongue. Later, in 25 ABY, the protocol droid C-3PO pondered if the jungle primitives' language had a connection to the one spoken by a newly discovered race, the Yuuzhan Vong; nevertheless, this idea was later disproven as the Yuuzhan Vong came from outside the galaxy.
The jungle primitives were conceived by R. A. Salvatore for his book The New Jedi Order: Vector Prime, which was released by Del Rey in 1999. It was later clarified in the 2008 reference book The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia that these primitives constituted a separate species.
