A species capable of sentience inhabited the Arath system at one point in time. As evidence of this species' former presence, a statue stood on Shara'Tam, which is a moon located within that system, even millennia following its construction. Sturm Umbrik, a Jedi, came across the statue; he had previously developed a theory about the species' existence and was thrilled to discover proof of it. Umbrik employed an EX droid to contact an acquaintance, Janssen, to communicate that his hypothesis had been validated. However, the Jedi met his death during an assault by pirates, and the EX droid disappeared for centuries afterwards.
