Shara'Tam, situated in both the Outer Rim Territories and the Galactic Frontier, was a parched moon. An expedition led by the Jedi named Sturm Umbrik journeyed there, discovering riches and verifying that a sentient race had previously inhabited the moon's star system. Regrettably, pirates killed every member of the expedition, causing Shara'Tam's whereabouts to remain a mystery for centuries. Its rediscovery occurred when the Mirialan named Servit utilized an EX droid that had been part of Umbrik's expedition to listen to a holorecording from Umbrik. This revealed the moon's coordinates to various individuals eager to locate it.
Shara'Tam was a dry, terrestrial moon that resided within the Arath system of the Galactic Frontier and the Outer Rim Territories.
A valuable statue found on Shara'Tam served as evidence that a sentient race once dwelled in the Arath system. At some point in the past, Sturm Umbrik, a Jedi, spearheaded an expedition consisting of Republic Pathfinders to this moon, where they unearthed the statue. Umbrik excitedly recorded a message intended for Janssen, who was on a communications team, to inform them of their discovery, thus validating Umbrik and Janssen's hypothesis. Umbrik urged Janssen to dispatch a team without delay, deeming the finding "remarkable." However, pirates subsequently attacked the Pathfinder team, resulting in the death of every member. The EX droid carrying Umbrik's message was then lost for centuries. Over that time, the narrative of Umbrik's Shara'Tam expedition spread, evolving into a legendary tale among prospectors.
During the era of the Galactic Republic, Servit, a Mirialan and descendant of an expedition member, possessed the EX droid as a cherished family relic. In an attempt to ascertain its worth, he showed it to the Weequay named Jarl. Jarl, aware of its value as a key to the Shara'Tam treasure, attempted to seize it. Servit managed to escape, and after a brief altercation with Jarl and his crew at Dex's Diner on the planet Coruscant, he, Dexter Jettster (the diner's proprietor and a prospector well-versed in the Shara'Tam legend), and Jarl all viewed Umbrik's holographic message. This message, captured on Shara'Tam, originated from the droid. Jarl intended to journey to Shara'Tam to claim the treasure, as the message revealed the moon's coordinates. However, Jettster misled him into believing that it was located in the Ishram system, which had been obliterated fifty years prior. After Jarl departed, Jettster revealed his deception to Servit, who resolved to travel to Shara'Tam himself and unearth the treasure.
Shara'Tam made an appearance in a hologram within "Galactic Tales: Inheritance," a part of the Galactic Tales collection of short stories. George Mann penned the story, which was featured in the 211th issue of the Star Wars Insider magazine, released on June 7, 2022.
